Now here is something interesting. With the update I overwrote the vendor directory. Pretty sure symfony updates were included in that. Simply deleting the install directory and routing still seems to be working fine which then leads me to believe that it isn't symfony that was causing the issues I was/am experiencing with XAMPP but rather something in the phpBB files themselves.
It did, however, break the web profiler extension and I now seem to have a zipped develop directory within the ext directory.

Not sure my web profiler extension is compatible. It's really hackish... I'll have a look and release a new version later if it isn't compatible

If it helps, I kept getting a popup saying something about a missing token.

Re: phpBB 3.2.0-a1 released
FYI: The changes in 3.2 that renamed all those event data variables has just been reverted, so all event names are now back to normal again, and backwards compatible.

Re: phpBB 3.2.0-a1 released
Yes,
make_clickable()
isn't used anymore and URLs are turned into links by this Autolink plugin. I don't know exactly what make_clickable()
does to URLs but either way the Autolink plugin doesn't attempt to modify the way the original URL is displayed. If the original text was a DOM tree, you could say that it splits the text to insert an a
node without ever altering the parent's textContent
.I see that
make_clickable()
adds a special class to local URLs. Currently in 3.2, all links are treated (and displayed) the same way whether they're from a [url]
BBCode, a linkified URL, local or otherwise. I could add a special attribute to mark local URLs but that would add some complexity. Unless there's a practical use case for it, I don't think it's worth it.I have published a patch that truncates long URLs. It's a patch against master but the same functionality could be implemented as an extension. Maybe it should.
If someone can summarise for me how local URLs should work, I'll look into it as soon as I can. Better yet, if you can write a function that takes a URL and returns how it should be truncated that would be most helpful. As far as I can tell from just posting local URLs on a 3.1 installation, it just removes the string from
generate_board_url()
from the start of the URL.- Pony99CA

Re: phpBB 3.2.0-a1 released
Local URL: viewtopic.php?p=285736#p285736
Local URL wrapped in URL tags: viewtopic.php?p=285736#p285736
I believe that a local URL (a URL to another phpBB page on the same board) is supposed to be displayed as follows:
viewtopic.php?p=285736#p285736
Personally, I don't care much for the local URL formatting. While it's better than nothing because it's shorter, people should always wrap URLs in the long form of the URL tag, like this: phpBB 3.2.0-a1 released. I believe that there was even an RFC to automatically title URLs using the Web page's title, which would be my preference (at least for local URLs).
Long URL: http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/1451 ... _i=desktop
As for long URLs, they should probably be truncated. Look at how the long URL above is underlined. Yuck.
