Lost email address ?

For any forum owners here, what do you when a user loses their email address and wants to start using a new email address in connection with your forum please?

They change their email address in the user profile account section of course.

Yep, but verification initially goes to the original email address first, of course.

Change the email address for them in the ACP?

That depends on what you mean by security point of view.

In PHPBB3, you would need access to the original email, before you can start using the new one, this is for security reasons, so if I circumvented that system, it would be negating the security a little.

I don't think that really matters if you're the administrator. There are many other things one can do to someone's account besides changing the email address.

But if they don't have access to their original email address, how can they link a new email address to the forums?

As has already been said, talk to the forum administrator who will change it for you via the ACP. It happens all the time. There is a Contact Us form in 3.1 that facilitates this.
