I would personally like to see all IM/SM contact options removed from the core which can be added manually easily (perhaps with the except of Jabber, because it requires much more complex code).
Looking at code/styling specific for ICQ for instance... makes me sad .
But that's just me.

Re: [RFC] Modern profile fields in 3.1
They are disabled in new installs by default. With not removing but disabling we save time for people to set them up.
We won't change that for now.

Because phpBB has the look and feel of software that is a decade and a half old as it is. Leaving outdated features, language, icons, etc just continues to reinforce its role as the forum software that's always behind the times.Mess wrote:Dude... Why waste time on removing something which is being used?
I would agree if it was a discussion about adding functionality, but this isn't.
When writing software, removing worthless functions is just as important as adding new ones.
I'm ok with this optionnickvergessen wrote:They are disabled in new installs by default. With not removing but disabling we save time for people to set them up.

Any update on this? is this working on the current b4 release? Why is jabber still carried along? Lastly is there a link that explains the new cpf system? Thanks!

The fields for skype, google+, youtube, twitter and facebook have been merged.
Jabber is still hardcoded as it is also available as a notification method. So it's not that easy to move it to a custom profile field.

Agreed. They shouldn't be in the core anyway. Chat and social media sites allow you to interact with the user. While music services may have some social features, that's generally not their main purpose. That would make them irrelevant for most boards (unless your board was a music board).paulus wrote:You can add them yourself if you want to on your board?Darkness_demoN wrote:Music services ?

When I come here, I'm looking to talk about phpBB. I don't care what music others here may listen to.

placeholder=""
with example what people need to write in the field. Because sometimes is confusing.----
I stop with this
Radio have live shows ! There are not only music inside also have news and other. Grooveshark also have live show ( music only ) but they have Chat function. That chat function for now isnt in phpbb core. For the res you are rightDavidIQ wrote:YouTube could be useful for various reasons such as tutorials, reviews, or other information.
