Hi everybody
I'd like to propose that a webmaster can give to an user administrator privileges for a determinated subforum.
I have a forum with differente areas. There are in each area clubs (small, medium and big) and i'd like to allow to the president of each one, the posibility of creating subforum, to make subforum just for their partners, to put their own header without my intervetion.
This feature allow to the webmaster as well to share the responsibilities with other user.
what is your opinion?
Regards

Sounds like an extension to me. I can't imagine more than a handful of site owners actually using such a feature.

Not just a handful. if you have your own forum and you decide to split the responsibility of the forum with priviliges of an administrator you can use it as well.DavidIQ wrote:I can't imagine more than a handful of site owners actually using such a feature.
that gonna help big, medium and small forum. and small club or assocciation will take the posibility to have a forum inside a forum with all kind of priviliges and not problems of servers...

Re: administrator privileges for a determinated subforum
FYI, this was discussed in the Social Network Features topic. I've seen requests for something similar from people running gaming clan boards (a surprisingly large number of phpBB boards, it seems).
The problem with giving people the Can manage forums, Can add new forums and/or Can delete forums admin permissions is that those affect the entire board. If there were an Admin section under Groups' forum permissions, perhaps you could make those permissions only apply to the specified forum (Add would therefore only allow adding sub-forums and Delete should obvioiusly only apply to sub-forums added to the main forum).
I don't care much one way or the other about this, but if you can have Global Moderators and forum-specific moderators, why not Global admins and forum-specific admins? If you agree with that, then this should be a core feature, not an extension.

I think phpbb just need 2 groups: Users Group ( whatever you want... admin, moderator ) and Permiss. And with Roles you could make everything.

I agree with Pony here as is maybe no necessary for all boards it is functionality that should be available based on the fact that we have it for mods. I have had a situation on a board I managed require something like this so +1

For those who run small boards will not see the need for this. But for those who run large boards know that this tool would be great.
