In fact, I don't mind if IE does not get rounded corners. As long as it doesn't look completely crap, that is a perfectly acceptable inconsistency imo.

+1 here too.

It might make some IE people use a better browser. Anyway, iirc the latest version(s) of IE work with rounded corners, right? So only outdated microsoft lovers will be left without nice, round corners.

Yes, IE9 does support it. However, it cannot be installed on Windows XP, so many users are unable to upgrade.

Currently there are twice more IE8 users than IE9 users.

Windows 7 has been out for 2 and a half years (or so). Vista was released roughly 4 years ago. Most/all compatibility issues that might have come up in software between XP and 7 are no longer existent, and at < $100 for the home premium version, that leaves little excuse for not having updated in the past 4 years.

If people want to use a modern software and get the best experience, they need to use a modern browser that can handle new technologies. And apparently if they want to use a modern browser (or a modern version of IE, at least), they need to use a modern operating system.

Good point. Plus, by the time 3.1 is released, old IE market share will go down even further. Lack of rounded corners isn't breaking layout, so its not a big problem.

Vista/7 users can use IE9, XP users, should upgrade to 7 or switch to Firefox or Chrome so not a big issue.

So not supporting rounded borders in IE8 and lower is fine with me if you wanna use CSS3 only, makes life easier too for style developers too not good with javascript.
