really good idea: mod list

Post by bliTz413 »

I have a good idea. since 3.1 is focusing on optimizing mods and installation and such this feature would be handy. how about for every mod that is installed; it would appear in a list so as to keep track of it. the list would host all the mods that are currently installed and if needed could have the specific mod settings.

whether the settings would be needed on the list or not would be decided by how "major" the mod is
for example if the mod was say mchat; the settings could appear in the mod list.

however if the mod was say; birthday on registration, controls would not be necessary, just the mod would be listed in the list.

in order for this feature to be applicable, all mods would need an extra code edit in order to appear on the list

this is just a random idea so feel free to change my idea however you want.

keep up the good work developers. u rock

(sry if this post is hard to understand)

All you are proposing is actually part of AutoMOD
You have a list and a detail of each installed ( and not installed yet ) ;)

But what about the admins that don't use Automod?

I think this definitely should be part of the phpbb core.

I disagree with the "major" and "minor" aspect though. A major mod to one admin is a minor to another - depending on the type of board they have.

The ACP should list all installed mods - that are in the phpbb mod database.

Handyman's Mod Version Check comes to mind.

Could be an enhancement to AutoMOD. You would upload the MOD zip package and have a "Manual Installation" button or checkbox which would then just add the MOD to your list of installed MODs. Then you'd also have a record of the MOD and a copy of what was (maybe) installed.

If you like modding you could just easily make a list yourself. ;-)
