Coping with spam - restricting registration by IP/country

Hi,

I am experiencing some problems with spam on my phpbb 3.0.2 board. In my case, it only makes sense to have people from 2-3 specific countries registering. I wondered, if there was a possibility to only let people who are within certain IP ranges register, and restrict all others.

Any other suggestions for coping with spam accounts and posts on a phpbb Forum are greatly appreciated. Does it make sense to increase the complexity of the CAPTCHA (I imagine, the spam-accounts are mostly set up automatically)
