I started updating from 3.0.2, I've done this once before on 2.x and rememberd it as really easy.
I started with the 3.0.2 -> 3.0.3 because I misunderstood the instructions a bit but it should've worked anyway, I did the upgrade chain with the database upgrade and then onward with checking which files should be updated and my function_content file I have some changes to so it asked if it should merge or just use another version, I chose the merged, I downloaded the file package that contained the upgraded file and I uploaded them, overwriting the old files.
Now everything is blank, In internet explorer it says 500 error, in firefox it says nothing. Did I forget to do something?

Re: update gone awry
if you have no mod installed why don't you try to upload the new package completely 3.04 and then run databse_update.php file
as you ahve messed with files but now with the bd so you can associate the db with a fresh installation
i Guess it would be helpful but don't forget to make necessary backups

Re: update gone awry
yeah I haven't done much, the only thing I fixed is this http://wowhead.crackpot.us/ so I would be able to fix that again.
Anyway, if I was to do a new install of the files, could you point me in the right direction for instructions on how to do that?

Download the full package here http://www.ohloh.net/p/phpbb/download?f ... -3.0.4.zipcreepwood wrote:could you point me in the right direction for instructions on how to do that?
Unzip to your desktop then via FTP overwrite all your files Be sure to not overwrite your config.php file.
Finally point your browser to
and let it run.
After complete delete the install directory.

Re: update gone awry
Contents of "install.html"
4.i. Full package
The full package is normally meant for new installations only, but if you want to replace all source files this package comes in handy.
First you should make a copy of your existing config.php file, keep it in a safe place! Next delete all the existing phpBB3 files, you may want to leave your files/ and images/ directory in place. You can leave alternative styles in-place too. With this complete you can upload the new phpBB3 files (see New installation for details if necessary). Once complete copy back your saved config.php, replacing the new one. Another method is to just replace the existing files with the files from the full package - though make sure you do not overwrite your config.php file.
You should now run install/database_update.php which, depending on your previous version, will make a number of database changes. You may receive FAILURES during this procedure, they should not be a cause for concern unless you see an actual ERROR, in which case the script will stop (in this case you should seek help via our forums or bug tracker).
Once the install/database_update.php has completed you may proceed to the Administration Control Panel and check remove the install directory as advised.

Are you sure you did a complete file overwrite or did you just upload the phpBB3 folder into a different area?
