In that case, I'm sure glad you're NOT one of the developers on these projects.......

Sure, let’s define "do care"...

There are posts all over the place from people ranting about the amount of time it is taking to complete phpBB 3.0. Many of the concerns are legitimate as people are trying to run a business and are dependent on this software. Not everyone uses the software for hobby. I don't need to hear about how the software is free and nobody is forcing us to use it. Am I mistaken in thinking that the software can be used by people running businesses or is this just hobby-ware?

Given the amount of rumbling and grumbling, someone who cared about the project and the users of the software would give some indication as to how the project is going, letting us know what kind of time frame we can expect for a stable release.

"It’s ready when it's ready" or “It’s done when it’s done” is not a proper answer to give to those inquiring about a completion date. Being in the beta 5 stage, there is no reason why they can not release some news other then “Olympus on Mars Conquered” to give us using the software for business some sort of time frame to pass on to our customers.

Again, I don’t want it to be misunderstood that I truly appreciate all the hard work of the entire development team. I just think the project could use someone to handle PR with a bit more tact and diplomacy.

Respectfully,

Garry Wilmeth
yeah yeah yeah... I know... it will be ready when it's ready.

Seriously?

You expect to use PHPBB3 for business application? What a joke. Use PHPBB2. What business advantage do you gain from delaying for PHPBB3?

What a lame reason for wanting a completion date..

Did I say that I have delayed? I am using 2.0. I have delayed heavy mods as 3.0 is near. Does your mom know your awake still?

Maybe after you get home from school tomorrow you can share with me some valid reasons for asking for general release info.
yeah yeah yeah... I know... it will be ready when it's ready.

I hear that phpBB4 is going to cook your breakfast, do your dishes, and wipe your backside.

Seriously, I am sure AcydBurn is probably already dreaming of it, but we probably won't see 4.x for a long time yet. Let's concentrate on the upcoming 3.x for now.

We will have a Beta 6 simply to iron out the bugs and kinks in the new Prosilver, and then we will see RC1 by about Fall (Northern Hemisphere) this year.
