What do i think about phpbb3(Closed)

Well i love it of corse but i just dont get the way they work like for example they say phpBB 3.0 Beta5 released
how can it be released when they say that it aint and should only be for testing why dont they call it phpBB 3.0 Beta5 test version
and seriously is there even a stable version of phpbb3 i think its just dum that you dont get much help and a lack of resources
for phpbb3 what they should of done is never released anyhting untill it was fully available and not a test because if it takes any longer people are going to get board with it and move on to a new community builder i have found a awsome community builder alot more options like video chat and etc exactly like myspace well sort off

BETA is always a testing stage. They have never once said, please go and download beta and run it in a live environment. Its made available so people can test it and iron out the bugs. You can't expect full support for a product thats in testing, is constantly changing and isn't finnished yet.

my point is there are more than 100 sites out there using it for in a live environment
so why dont they just hurry up and finish it if the spent half the time they spend doing there site up them beta will be all finished
well i think plus phpbb2 is getting abit boring

I'm not sure the web site team and the development team are necessarily all the same people. Plus you should look at the number of bugs fixed since beta1 came out. It's huge. It's an incredible amount of work to get this far and they're doing it all for free in their own time. Half a dozen guys can't hope to find all the bugs in a reasonable amount of time so by releasing it as a beta you get loads of people doing the bug hunting for them.

Those who are using it live are either skilled coders who have been updating it them self, people who are willing to take the risk of no support or people who just plain haven't read the warnings about using it live.

Not any more.
Each beta gets superseded by the next one otherwise people will find bugs already fixed in the next version.

thats up to them. Like kevin says, some will be sites of skilled coders who arn't worried about not recieving the support some of us need. A lot of others will be people who have just ignored the warning and gone live anyway.
