[solved] BBCode on new topic

Post by houser »

[Edit by original author: this is a feature not a bug.]

in phpbb2, It used to be possible to hover over the URL button and then copy and paste
the variation on abbcode, making a link like this:

Code: Select all

 [url=http://area51.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=26582]
phpBB 3.0 Beta5 released [/url]

look like this:

phpBB 3.0 Beta5 released

Is that done in a new way that I am missing?
Now, the text disappears as soon as you stop hovering over the button.
bug or feature? how do we make a link in that way in phpbb3?

TIA and best
jtm

Not sure what you mean, the url bbcode works in exactly the same way in phpBB3 as it did in phpBB2 :)

Hello and thanx for reply...
As describes in my first post, on my phpbb2 installations the code "sticks" in the bar
under the bbcodebuttons, after hovering the mouse over it so that you can copy and paste the code.
It does not in here...or on my phpbb3 installations...
It's a tiny detail, and you can allways type manually...but it was a nice feature...

Actually this was a bug. It was not supposed to stay after you hover away from the button. I can understand what you are trying to do, and I will keep it in mind for a future posting editor (being able to insert alternates of BBcode syntax like for url or list), but this will stay at it is on 3.0. :)

I see, thanx.

So it is intended only as a hint for manual typing in 3.0?

Yeah, it was only meant to be a hint in phpBB2 as well, that is the bug which he was referring to :) It was never meant to stick as it did in phpBB2. It appears the bug is fixed in phpBB3 and thus the text does not stick(as intended)
