Hi
I am taking over a forum soon, and have set up an off-line test site using my own PC as server, so that I can (hopefully) make my mistakes in private and hit the ground running when I take over fully.
Is it possible to set up EasyMod on this offline forum? I have downloaded, and extracted to my Admin folder, but when I open easymod_install.php it opens as a text file.
Any ideas?

Re: Installing on offline server
I started working on localhost too, some time ago. Mainly to be able to practice and learn from my mistakes without messing up my liveboard.
I also used EasyMod, and installed and deleted many testboards and reinstalled EasyMod many times on succesive boards.
I recall how sometimes a similar thing occurred as the one you mention. What I don´t recall, regretfully, is how I solved the issue. I believe I simply deleted the EasyMod files and tried again. In a worst case I must have simply set up a new board and tried again. If I don´t recall wrong I never found an apparent cause but always managed to sooner or later achieve a new successfull install.
Maybe you should do just that, delete EasyMod, reinstall it again and see what happens?

Re: Installing on offline server
So far so bad I'm afraid. Windows won't recognise easymod_install.php as a program file. Hmm.

I guess you did create the folder "mods" in your "admin" folder? EasyMod files should be in admin/mods/
What program did you use to create your local server?

Re: Installing on offline server
Nope.
It gives me a run error if I try tu run it, saying that it "refers to a location that is unavailable", and if I browse to it it doesn't list it as a program file, although it is definitely there. As I said before, if I try to run it directly it just opens it as a text file.

Re: Installing on offline server
I just installed a testboard on my computer, created the directory mods in admin and the full path I have to put into my browser to run easymod_install.php is the following: http://127.0.0.1/foro/admin/mods/easymo ... nstall.php" target="_blank
Did you try the same path?

Not quite ... that would be because I'm an idiot ...
... but I have now, and I've moved into the installation process. Thanks.
I'm making some progress, but I'm stuck on the EasyMod settings page. TBH I'm not sure I have anything right on there ... when it gets to testing the settings it gives an error message saying that the port number is probably wrong - but presumably it could also be one of the other settings.
I have the ftp path as EasyPHP/www/phpBB2 , although I have tried with more and less detail.
I have no idea what to put as ftp server. I'm sure I shouldn't leave it as localhost (and it hangs up on the test if I do). I've tried a few things, the most likely one seems to be EasyPHP.
Port number. I've left it as 21 because I really have no idea.
Thanks very much - you have been a very great help, and I really appreciate your time and interest.
