Invision Board to phpbb 3 - Easy?

Will it be easy to convert an Invision Power Board skin to phpbb 3? What do you guys think? I personally have little experience with skin making in both softwares, however I will be having someone create a very nice skin for my forums and we can't possibly wait to who knows when phpbb3 comes out, so we will just make it for IPB. However, when phpbb3 comes out I would like to convert it.

What do you guys think? Btw, I am sorry if this question was answered before.

As to whether it will be hard or not, I don't know. I have never used any ipb styling stuff as I have never wasted my money on something like that when I can easily mod phpbb2 to do everything I need. Not that I did tho, just too lazy

But since you are paying someone to make you one, it shouldn't be a problem. You could pay them some more to come back and convert it to the phpbb3 styling system. Or, you could get someone on phpbb.com to convert it once phpbb3 comes out. Personally, I would WAIT until phpbb3 comes out. What is so urgent you need it now? Couldn't you just settle for a free style for ipb until phpbb3 comes out?

Well...

The templating system with Olympus is very nice to work with. It should be no problem to create an IPB skin clone, the funny thing is that phpBB3 now has all the functions that it could actually work (unlike a phpBB2 board.)

However, skinning an Olympus board to look like IPB... I... I dunno, I never cared for the way IPBs looked, but if that's what you want, you can certainly do it.

Well I definitely cannot wait unknown months for phpbb3 to come out, especially since the devs say nothing. So I am going to just go ahead with an IPB skin. However, when phpbb3 does come out I want to convert that IPB skin to phpbb3. Anyways, so phpbb3 skinning will be easier then IPB?

Well, it definetly is very easy, and I just had a look at some ipb skinning and it looked, not so easy, so it should be fine.

Do you want it to look EXACTLY like your ipb skin, or just the same "theme" (by theme I don't mean what phpbb calls theme, I mean the general look of something) Because you could make phpbb3 have the same "theme" as your ipb without much templating work but if you want it to look EXACTLY like ipb, you are going to have to switch around a lot of junk. But I think that having the general theme would look better than making it look just like ipb because the general ipb layout is pretty sucky.

Yeah, well when I get the paid design, I can guarantee it will be quite beautiful (I have seen his past work), so if its possible to make it just as good looking, then that would be fine as well.

well, you could always convert to phpBB2 then upgrade

Peronally, I always liked how IPB was set up.
The logo bar on top, then the home link and forum rules on one side, the forum module links on the other, and then another bar for your personal UCP always clicked with me.

Otherwise, though, its pretty much the same.

I think phpbb3 comes really close to matching the IPB header without totally copying it, but I'd be lying if I told you I wouldn't be editing my themes to look like the IPB header.
