Would it be very difficult to make the language files store male, female and neutral genders of words, for use where it would be applicable? That way, if you set yourself as "female" in your profile, the forum would then refer to you as such when appropiate. That way, in spanish, a man would be a "Moderador" and a woman would be a "Moderadora", for example.
It would be mainly used by other languages where there's a difference, of course, but it would make a nice touch for the ones which have those differentiations. It sure beats using annoying ultra-politically correct trends like "Moderador/a" (here in Spain), where things become very tiring to read. Lots of "o/a" or even "@" ("Usuari@s") utterly destroy the flow of communication with useless duplication.
Now, phpBB already does something similar with plurals (well, similar... it's basically the same thing, but with another variation of a given word), so maybe that's something of a start for a possible mod.
Then, if I wanted to create a mod, do you think it would be difficult? (well, I wouldn't create it, I don't know much php, I would probably grab a friend and make him do it... and save Humanity!) Did the phpBB 3 template engine have the capability to handle "IF" statements? Would that help?
What do you think? Something like, I don't know, putting "¿Estás {seguro|segura} de querer borrar el mensaje?" and then, just like when phpBB replaces those % thingies with links and such, it puts the appropiate word for the gender the users set in their profiles
Of course, no gender set would come up with a neutral gender.
