Re: New CAPTCHA

It has to be the partial colour blindness. since someone mentioned crossing your eyes, I tried that, and when the squares blended, I could sort of see a VERY faint 'm' in the middle sort of silvery. But it was hard to see, and I couldnt make out the rest of the image.

I know when I get tested at the eye doctor, they show you the books of images, and they are just a ton of dots, but some dots are a differnt colour, and make a number. some colour sets I can make out clear as day, but others I get a few pages in and have trouble decifering the coloured dots to make out the number (i think it was the purples and blues I had most problem with, hence my trouble with the posted image). Someone said that the pattern is there, so you would see it regardless of colour. I can tell you that, although it may be clear as day to you, to me, with only a slight color blindness, I cant see it at all.

Maybe you don't see as clear with one eye, which makes it more difficult.

View-Master is my friend.

Hey I had one of those when I was a kid (who didn't) :) . It's full color but you still need some kind of glasses..

That was me. It was just a suggestion, though, based on what I read on wikipedia. Maybe I'm wrong.

Well, as far as I know, I'm not color blind at all, but I have difficulty seeing this one too (whereas it actually has been a revelation how easily I can now see some of those things, I used to not be able to see them at all). Maybe it has something to do with the dark colors.

All the View-Master does is provide for backlighting, magnification of the tiny film, and a way to easily and consistently view the "3D" image without conscious eyeball gymnastics. :P

That makes Bertie cry.

The CAPTCHAs included with Olympus are actually readable (unless you set everything to High; [from time to time] you can't read anything). If users have to try really hard and perform "eyeball gymnastics" as SamG said, then IMHO the CAPTCHA is no good, even if machines may not be able to read it. The one you provided is simply ridiculous...

The funny thing is that it can be read by computer ;-)
