Get it from the Easynews mirror. If it doesn't work, I blame you :).

On Topic:
People whine, and whine, and whine, and whine, and "WHEN IS THE BETA COMING OUT" clamor on and out.
It comes out, and people are disappointed?

Honestly.
I know everybody else is saying the same thing, but this represents an achievement. That means 3.0 is coming SOON. Sooner than soon than we would have predicted months ago.

Beta is not final
Everything is not done
"If You Support It, They Will Come."
"Construction"

People whine no matter what...this world is a world full of whiners(and people who sue everyone else for their own problems...but that's anouther topic). ;)

SourceForge is usually reliable.

Also, note that SourceForge itself is not the [only] mirror. There are many, and it takes a while (normally a day or two, but apparently not in this case) for the uploaded file(s) to propagate through the various mirrors. OSDN is usually the first place that files are available.

people waited for BETA's so they can help the phpBB developers test it.. if you waited for BETA for nothing.. then you my friend have nothing to do here. :) after all thats what BETA releases are..

the beta version is just for testing so it hasn't got all the features of the final version( eg CVS)
don't complain

Personally, I think it's better if they DON'T provide the upgrades from Beta to Beta. That will give them more time for coding...

The only thing that they would have to make for an update is a database updater, which would take a matter of a few minutes for them if there is not major changes. None of the other files matter(well, except for config.php, but that doesn't have anything other than your database connection info in it).

Wouldn't they have to have one for "each" beta version? For example, use "this" if upgrading from Beta 1, and "this" if upgrading from Beta 2, etc.

In addition, they would also have to worry about the different download file pkgs... "This" one for fresh install, "this" one for upgrading from Beta 2, "that" one for patches only, etc.

Not a significant amount of extra work I admit, but that time could be spent towards the release.

If they would do it, yes.

You can package it all into one. If your upgrading, you just write over all of the files except the config.php, and images folder(adding new ones if there are any).
