unfortunately, this is something we as users have to deal with when the admin is left open (like it is for this board). Here we go again, Dog Cow. If it's possible to reset the permissions to how they were before this bozo did this, it'd be great, otherwise, I'll use bbadmin to reset.

Yeah, I've seen what sort of havoc hackers *the malicious type* can reek on a messege board. At first I thought it was perhaps someones intention to show a weakness in the system but not to actually prevent others from using the same Admin log-in.

I am curious what sort of rebuilding has to be done when something like this occurs.

Grrrr I was going to show my housemate how great the admin panel was and some prat has completely trashed the thing. Hope you can get his IP and ban him (know it wont do much if it's a dynamic IP but every bit helps).

Is there anyway of setting up a cron job that just resets the database every 24 hours or something like that? I've never done it so don't know for sure, but couldn't you do a fresh install and then take a backup of the database, put it into a php script that isn't publicly accessible and set it to run every so often to drop all the tables in there and re-make them?

I fixed as much as I could, although I don't know if there was anything wrong with the bbadmin account - I couldn't get a chance to fix it before the system kicked me off.
