So the potential of phpBB 3.0 shipping out before May 15 is correct. :) AWESOME!
Good grief... NO. It, the first beta, will be released as and when it's deemed suitable. Quit "reading" into the whole 15th May (and 17th April previously) thing, it has absolutely nothing to do with it.

If you really must know... look at the date this was posted, and add roughly 4 weeks each time. Ta-da!

People also don't seem to realise that Beta1 could very well ship with "know bugs" which are open in the bug tracker as they aren't show stoppers or things which will only be worked on for Beta2 (or later).

Right. And, as I recall, phpBB 2.0.20 included bug fixes as well, no? Even in the software that's been in use for a fairly long time now, they're still finding bugs. A "0 bug" release is impossible. I think the priorities for releasing Beta1 would be:

1) Catch any "show-stopper" bugs, anything super critical that will keep the board for functioning properly.

2) Complete all of the features.

So, for now, we continue to wait.

EDIT: From the "open bug tracker" script posted earlier.

"With this rate, 0 bugs will be reached in never days."

True, no?
