Re: My opinion of phpBB3...

Now that I re-read it, it says 'Discussion of general topics related to the new release', meaning phpBB3.
Doesn't matter though, all my questions have been asked and I won't be needing help anymore as my host said he is updating the phpBB software in the cPanel from 2.0.19 to 2.0.20 which leaves me with something less to do. ;)

I am going to stick with phpBB, and I will transfer to an IPB or vBulletin forum once I have enough money to purchase one. I don't want to buy the licenses brand new, as it would cost HEAPS. I am currently looking for second-hand licenses which people don't want or don't need anymore. :D

My decision is now final. I will be using phpBB2 instead of purchasing a vBulletin or IPB license now. Main reason is because at the moment I don't have much of a fanbase and their isn't much traffic coming to my site, as it has always been up and down, opened and closed, etc.

Right now my main goal is to fix up the forum so that it functions the way I want it and ensure that everything is updated for people to be active and come back.

If you think you can help me out with anything, then please don't hesitate to contact me either through this topic, through my forum or via PM.

But right now I should get back on topic on my own topic. :P

I guess for me, money is the big issue in deciding a BBS. I will stick with phpBB for awhile. If I ever have the money, I will go for vB though.

Money for me was the biggest issue as well. If I had enough money to purchase a license for vBulletin or IPB, then I would have done so.

phpBB3 Olympus is proving to get better and better, therefore it is the best choice for free forum software. I can't wait till it comes out! I've said that a number of times by now.

My only form of online income is ads (from Google AdSense and various other ad sites), referral links and donations. So I guess it will take me a while before I am able to purchase any of the paid software.

The only way you are going to purchase those BBS is that you get help from donation. For vB it is $160!!! What a price!!! hahahaha!

Yeah, very true. The ads and referrals will only contribute minutely. Doesn't matter, it's always good to have goals and things to look forward to in the future. The only thing I am thinking of purchasing soon is a domain for Pixelation. That will increase the amount of traffic into Pixelation a bit as well as allowing the site to gain some reputation.

I will have to list my forum on various forum listing sites, as well as putting in my website to topsite and review websites.
