Why you think I was whinging or crying? LOL I have only written my opinion and that is the waiting has been too long IMO.

And why would I even need to write my own code? There are alternatives out there that I could choose, however I am "still" waiting for phpBB 3, however my decision can change soon.

Stop acting like phpBB maniacs and buttering up the phpBB. Start to see this whole thing as a market where different products and alternatives are present!

I'm going to repeat it for one last time: I'm only "waiting" because I'm a phpBB fan myself and I have a heavily modded phpBB forum. However I'm not obsessed with phpBB and definitely I'm not going to wait forever. Thinking that waiting for this long is normal and it doesn't effect phpBB in the market is just stupid.

It's been like 2 years, ok... but, it's free.
You don't pay to download, you don't pay to use it.
So, you cannot be angry for something that you don't have to pay...

Hmm it seems for sometimes you need to repeat yourself several times for some people to understand.

When did I write that I was angry? At the very best, my feelings can be described as unhappiness... phpBB has been the software of my choice, and as a user and as a "fan" I am only saying my opinion that the wait time of next release of phpBB has been too long. My unhappiness is mainly because the current available version of phpBB is just outdated and not up to the day's standards when compared to its competitiors... This surely is harming phpBB as well.

When released, the phpBB3 can really be good, but it still doesn't change the fact that the wait time was too long. If the software is good, and becomes popular, in a way the users pay back to phpBB, so it is just plain wrong to say that its users don't have the right to be annoyed when they are waiting for so long for an update on the software they use so that it is not outdated anymore.

And I just can't believe this "phpBB roxors! I'm going to wait forever for them to release the phpBB3 and not complain and support them at all times." attitude is too funny for me sorry.

Lots of us have been unhappy. The long delay has created a variety of complications for a lot of people. Including the development team, past and present.

If you can point out one or two clear, constructive benefits to the phpBB community of dwelling on the annoying stuff here in these forums, I'd appreciate reading and discussing them. We've been through the "unhappy customer" thing before many times, so something fresh would be a good start.

I've got a question for you: Whats wrong with phpBB 2?
Its regulary updated with new features (mainly security focused) and is up to date.

phpBB 3 is the next generation of forum software.
They could do it quickly and possibly give a bad reputation to phpBB if they screw up or they could take their time and get it right the first time.

Joking aside, it is OBVIOUS that featurewise, the phpBB2 is waaaaay behind its alternatives including the free ones. I'm not even mentioning about the security issues as it will start another discussion. I'll simply assume that, if you update your forum regularly, you won't have a problem and have a very stable forum... But is it enough? When the phpBB 2 was out, how did phpBB 1 look to you? It is exactly how phpBB 2 is for me right now, when I look at some other forum softwares that are alternatives. Yes, the phpBB 3 looks like it is going to be a BLAST, but after years of waiting and there still doesn't seem to be even an estimate for the beta, (LOL I'm not even mentioning about the full release) this "it is going to be" almost sounds like a politician's promise.

And of course, I do not wish for a rushed release either... Here, what I'm saying is (I repeated it in each of my post) just that this much waiting is too long! I'm not requesting the devs to release it soon or anything.

Why don't you just shut the *beep* up. You're useless bitching isn't going to speed things up any. If anything, the devs might see your lack of discipline and intentionally slow the progress (however unlikely) I've been waiting for this for 2 years, and I'm going to continue to wait until the program is complete.

You're wanting Olypmus to come out like Windows where they hurry up and make the program, and it's a piece of *beep*. Then they have to make all these little code changes to fix all the bugs that are in the program.

And talking about buttering up phpBB... yeah, there's other forum software that you can use. Go ahead, try it, pay a few hundred bucks every few years.

If you don't want to wait for Olympus, then don't, go with another forum program.
