Header & Footer, etc.
Is this new phpBB going to have board header and footer, and template HTML settings like IPB and vB so you can add Google ads or whatever without editing php files?

Thats already available in the 2.x line..?
You have to edit the template .tpl files (basically just HTML).. But it can be done easily without editing the php files..
Yawnster
PS.. The 3.x templating system is much improved over the 2.x version, with additions like PHP inside the templates, improved control structures and a better and more refined variable addition system..
(damn i sound like a salesman..)

No what I mean is:
Without having to edit files, like the template information is stored inside the SQL database, like going into the Admin CP and changing things like CSS and all that from inside there, like Invision Power Board and vBulletin offer.

There is a method of editing the templates from the admin panel now. It still requires you to understand the templating code, but you don't have to download then upload the files anymore if you don't want to.

The feature is currently not implemented (it wasn't yet taken over from the old ACP), but IIRC it should be in before the beta.EXreaction wrote: Where can you edit templates in the adminCP?

I mean, not really like that, but sort of like Invision's system where you can edit the template html...Lastof wrote: There is a method of editing the templates from the admin panel now. like there's categories so you can easily add things to the memberbar or whatever in HTML code or something.
and Board Header & Footer Wrappers are just like ads and stuff you want to place around your board... like if you wanted Google ads instead of doing all those steps into intregrating them into all the files, you could just copy & paste the code into the board header & footer wrappers wherever you wanted to like:
<member bar> or something like that
and if you wanted it under the memberbar you would paste the code under that tag but before the tag after it.
Is that type of feature going to be included, sorry its hard to explain it.

Yes you will have this feature soon. But I believe it allows the editing of all files, not just the header and footers. I prefer to use my text editor, it was more meant for the job. But for a quick fix I guess this is alright.dhn wrote:The feature is currently not implemented (it wasn't yet taken over from the old ACP), but IIRC it should be in before the beta.EXreaction wrote: Where can you edit templates in the adminCP?

You mean the "<menubar>" thing? I highly doubt that will be ever used, unless the template you are using does actually use that.Twillingate.info wrote: Nobody has answered my question, yet.
