I looked at the CVS Page and found that phpBB 2 is still in development.
Say phpBB 2 development were to halt, how much more time would the developers
have to work on Olympus?
Just a question.
Btw, note to the developers, Olympus looks and feels great, and seems to be very
stable here on Area51. Good work.

Re: phpBB 2 Development
Just tested a CVS build on my server. It's Very Stable in my opinion.
Had an issue with the ACP when attempting to create a forum, but AFAIK this bug has
been discovered and is being fixed.
Great work, cant wait for the finished release now!

Re: phpBB 2 Development
Development on phpBB2 is limited to bug and security fixes as well as the occasional backport of security features, which is mostly modifying Olympus code for use in the 2.0.x codebase. Aside from that, all resources are concentrated on Olympus.MacForum wrote: I looked at the CVS Page and found that phpBB 2 is still in development.

You can never go home again... but I guess you can shop there.

Re: phpBB 2 Development
phpBB2 has been feature frozen since April 2002
I do believe they will continue to maintain it for sometime even after 3.0's release.

Re: phpBB 2 Development
True, they probably will support it still.
However the majority of servers will move over to Olympus fairly quickly so I can
see phpBB 3 support being the primary target.
Btw, after the release, will phpBB 3 still be called "phpBB Olympus" or something?
Because it sounds really cool and it has a much better ring to it than "Invision Power
Board" and especially "vBulletin".

Re: phpBB 2 Development
The development team has said in the past that they will keep supporting phpbb 2 long into the future even after olympus has been fully released.MacForum wrote: they probably will support it still.

Re: phpBB 2 Development (and phpBB3 questions)
i personally do not think alot of longtime phpbb 2 users will move too 3 until the styles and mod people hav had time to bring out a lot of mods and styles. I know there are features on my board my users would not do without and they will not be in 3 as standard. Leaves me waiting for someone to release them as a mod for 3

You know, I may well stick with phpBB 2 for a while.

Re: phpBB 2 Development (and phpBB3 questions)
I have 50+ mods in place on my board, and of that functionality, about 95% is in place in the final version of phpBB, making for about three mods that need to be handled.karlsemple wrote: i personally do not think alot of longtime phpbb 2 users will move too 3 until the styles and mod people hav had time to bring out a lot of mods and styles.
