In the includes directory I see a file named admin_easymod.php.txt
shouldn't the be admin_easymod.php or does the setup script rename this file?

Yes, the EM install will take care of the renaming of the files...

lol thanks I was coming to correct my booboo, I had renamed the file and then saw EM errored because it couldn't find the file
