Eh? Where are you buying, your local Dell outlet?
I love Dell. Other companies make do with glueing the components in so you can't upgrade. Dell just go for using a customised version of the ATX power supplies, so any upgrades result in a nice fireworks display, an entirely non working computer, and an invalid warrenty.
I don't buy Dell.

AMD AMD AMD AMD.

Right now I'll say your best choose is an AMD64. I have my good old P4HT 3G, don't think i'll upgrade for another year.

P.S. And Intel HT has a vulnerability.

but that is a problem of servers
Ubuntu Linux: Since it is not possible to provide a safe patch in a short time, HyperThreading has been disabled in the updated kernel packages for now. You can manually enable HyperThreading again by passing the kernel parameter "ht=on" at boot. [Quoted from Ubuntu Security Notice USN-131-1.]
Atleast, now I know it disabled :?

...and GOD no ONE make the same mistake as me and get a celeron NO LAUGHING DAMMIT
Unless you mean a Celeron M. The Celeron M used in many notebooks is actually based on the same core as the Pentium M. And the P-M has been proven in many cases to have better performance than the Pentium 4.

Yes, celeron m is nice, but, I got a normal celeron... In a good old HP Pavilion 544a, some day I AM going to put this machine out of it's misery...

However it does have a brand NEW kick arse LG dvd burner in it :D

AMD.

They perform better in servers, I found. Last time I used a server with a pentium processor it took like 40 seconds to load a PHP page.
