phpBB 2.2 looks very good and I think maybe I will convert from vB to it as soon as possible.

Re: Gosh, the new phpBB 2.2 ROCKS!
so then maybe this development version could be legitimately called 2.9.2 ? because the final release will now be 3.0
** I had actually wondered about the scheme being consistent with the apparent numbering scheme originally going from 2.1.2 to 2.2, but now 2.9.2 going to 3.0 would seem more reasonable would it not? But realize it is of little significance and irrelevant for the release of 3.0 beta, 3.0 RC1, etc. as I would prefer to see in the numbering scheme. Plus just call the current development version 3.0 "alpha" for what it's worth... **

It's not decimal, 2.9 would be a development version for 2.10, 2.11 would be a development version for 2.12 etc...

So then, what would be this development version for the next 3.0 release? With the wave of a wand, we jump all the way up to 3.0...Davidls wrote: It's

That versioning thingy is sorta why I think 3.0 alpha, 3.0 beta, and 3.0 RC* are way better IMO...
With the current numbering scheme, can we legitimately jump from a 2.1.2 development version to a brand spanking new 3.0 Olympus; it's like big magic it seems, Olympus Mons Magic

2.1 is the old version when we were gonna number it 2.2,
it's now just 3.0 development CVS milestone 2. or something like that
Or you could just call it it's development name of olympus

One question: Is this here at area51 the newest available version or a cvs snapeshot from any other date and it isn't updated?
One thing I miss in phpBB 3.0 is a quick reply, but it will be integrated fast by a hack, so it's not so important
phpBB rocks
