You also gonna post it on Jupiter, Pluto, Venus and other planets?

GrahamJE has explained to me that you hijacked the Beagle 2 probe for this purpose. May I just express my approval of this, and my hope that it involved huge lasers.

Well, in no way comparable with what subBlue created, but I thought I'd share with you

It doesn't work for me.

NASA needs to take note that all you need to survive the harsh Martian atmosphere is a nice woolly jumper (and a bit of fur)naderman wrote: Well, in no way comparable with what subBlue created, but I thought I'd share with you

subBlue, why isn't the image working? I wanna see it! Now, when I look closer, subblue.com doesn't work either.subBlue wrote:NASA needs to take note that all you need to survive the harsh Martian atmosphere is a nice woolly jumper (and a bit of fur)naderman wrote: Well, in no way comparable with what subBlue created, but I thought I'd share with you

Re: Interplanetary Promotion: phpBB 3 "Olympus"
That's awesome Subblue. Is this the reason 3 is codenamed or is the codename the reason for the picture?
Re: Interplanetary Promotion: phpBB 3 "Olympus"
For those of you interested, the image was rendered using a program called Terragen (you can download a trial). The terrain was created from real elevation data of Olympus Mons which is available from space-graphics.com.
To create the phpBB cutout I used a little program called TerraConv, which converts the elevation data into a 16bit greyscale TIFF. This was then taken into photoshop and the phpBB lettering overlayed at a slightly darker shade of grey (so it cuts into the height of the mountain).
Terragen has preset textures for a Martian surface and atmosphere, which were used. I also scaled the height of the mountain by 400% (in real life it is actually 27km high, but so wide that the slope looks quite gradual, which doesn't make for such a dramatic image
Spectral Dragon: The phpBB releases line are now named after Martian mountains - hence the next version being called 'Olympus'
