Reporting Profiles

Post by Random American »

I don't know if this is the right forum to post this, but I think there should be a feature to report profiles directly. Some people put their rulebreaking content in their profile fields. Being able to directly report that would be useful for many boards.

not sure how much of a need there is considering its hidden away under there profile. you would have to click to find it. What kinds of content would be an example? As not sure what you can have there really? Other than contact info and stats

Depends on what type of CPFs have been added. If they are text fields then a user can enter anything they want, whether it is relevant or not.

I would tend to agree - perhaps another option would be to log whenever a user edits their profile then it would be up to the Admin to monitor it, possibly as an extension for those who need it.

This would probably be better in the ideas forum on .com

Different boards do have different profile fields added and some may be displayed in the user's miniprofile. Yes, an Admin might stumble across it, but Admins are not omnipresent all of the time, and may miss it. The reason why I proposed this though, is because sometimes a new user would join a board, put an advertisement in their profile and not put it in their posts. I have seen this on many boards and wished I could directly report it like I would a post. This type of spam sometimes does work, as not all the boards I'm on require an account to view profiles. In addition, I have seen troublesome users on a board put something disgusting in their profiles just to be obscene, like linking to porn or malicious sites.

Alright, I'll post it there later.

You use the report post facility and specify the reason for. Like you'd do with signatures etc.

Or PM a staff member.

I do not see the reason(s) as valid for adding some code to achieve such goal IMHO.
