I'm running 5.5.24 on my main server, 5.1.63 on another and 5.5.24 locally.

Perhaps a more accurate picture could be gained from the last 6 months of stats?

I got 5.5 on my server and local PC (I run Ubuntu), but I don't have a live site atm

I think it's fair to say that phpbb works with mysql 5.5 nowadays.
