Non-visible content

In general, Google won't display content that is not visible to the user. In other words, don't show content to users in one way, and use hidden text to mark up information separately for search engines and web applications. You should mark up the text that actually appears to your users when they visit your web pages.

There are a few exceptions to this guideline. In some situations it can be valuable to provide search engines with more detailed information, even if you don't want that information to be seen by visitors to your page. For example, if a restaurant has a rating of 8.5, users (but not search engines) will assume that the rating is based on a scale of 1–10. In this case, you can indicate this using the meta element, like this:[/url]

So if this code is being stuck in overall header template, then it will appear on all forums, even hidden or private ones. Which reading that sounds like it shouldn't be used their.

This RFC is Google-specific; the new standard is supported by Google, Bing, Yahoo, and Yandex.
Endorse. More versatile and modern format.

I don't see nothing terrible in it.
Sorry for my English.

Please remove http://data-vocabulary.org and replace it with https://schema.org which is recommended by all modern search engines.

https://schema.org, unfortunately, is not considered by Google when constructing the chain of addresses in a snippet.

It may be something on your side. Currently I don't use any microdata on my phpbb3 forum and I have correct breadcrumbs on Google.

Pretty sure I read the same from Google themselves somewhere at some point...

I would suggest to stay away from this and release an extension instead. These things change too quickly and shouldn't be part of a the core. This is what happened to the "authorship" markup. https://support.google.com/webmasters/a ... 3347?hl=en
