What Happened To The Report And Quote Buttons?

Post by Pony99CA »

I just noticed that the Report and Quote buttons changed from the Exclamation-In-Triangle icon and "Quote icons, respectively, to just Exclamation (!) and Quote (") icons.

That's not so bad, but what I really hate is that those icons don't display unless you hover over the area at the top of the post where the icons sit (at least in IE 10). If somebody is new to phpBB, they may not know that and may wonder why they can't quote or report posts.

Please make those icons always visible again.

I really like how it is now :) Everybody will eventually move his mouse over post and will find out there are hidden buttons.

They'll discover it by accident. That's not a good recipe for user interface design.

I think I prefer them to be always visible too, but I could certainly get used to it.

Is there any variable in js that we can tamper with if we want to change the behavior?

Its done like this on countless other forums as well so its perfectly fine. As long as on mobile/tablet devices the responsive button is their then its just personal preference for you.

Sorry, couldn't help but fix that grammar error. Anyways, I agree; I think the fading in and out is fine. I really like it, actually.

+1 for keeping it like it is now. On mobile devices they are not hidden but are always shown.

But perhaps they could be a little bit bigger. They are so tiny now :). Also they should appear when hovering over any part of the post (as intended), not just the post header. So perhaps this is a IE10 issue that needs to be fixed.

Should we hide them completely from guests?

Currently the quote button appears to them if they hover over a post.
