Custom profile field - contact field

Post by leschek »

While testing phpBB 3.1B1 I tried to create custom profile field for Facebook.
Here is the screenshot with options I set:

It seems to work, but it is visible only on profile page. There is under "contact user" link "FB" (from "Contact Description"). But for some reason it is not visible in mini profile next to posts. I thought there also would be link FB, but it is not. I'm not sure if this is a bug or if I forget to set something? In Load Settings I have set all options for custom profile fields to "Yes".

Do you have the Load Settings set properly?

Display custom profile fields in user profiles
Display custom profile fields on topic pages

Well when you make it a contact icon, you also need to add the image to the .css
Thats sub-optimal but how it works at the moment.

Ah, that explains it. I'm suprised that the icon part doesn't work like rank images. I hope that will be cleaned up by the RC release at the latest.

Would be nice if there is (for mini profile) field to write path for the icon and if icon is not used it would show in mini profile what is written in contact description field.

Yeah I guess that would work aswell. We need a new column in the table for that, but that shouldnt stop it.

Will it be possible to make the new custom field open in a new window? I have just tested making a Twitter using it and it works great (I couldn't figure out how to make the icon appear on topic pages) but it worked great. To make it open in a new window would the "target="blank"" command need to be added via editing with an extension or could it be done by default?
