new feature: Tag users in posts

What about tagging other forum members in posts? something like facebook...

Please be a little more specific. What kind of tagging? Example tags? Why?

Same as Facebook and twitter is what he's suggesting, personally I see no use or benefit of this, so if OP can suggest some would be good..

I guess it would be useful if the person being tagged has not replied to the topic so they would not be subscribed. Then again all of that depends on if the user has changed their settings to allow such notifications in the first place.

That would be fun. It should be a MOD, not feature though, I think.

It would need spam protection, though.

I think an option for the user to disable it should be enough.
And I also think, that this should be handled by a MOD.

The PM system would be sufficient to point that user at the topic. I don't see a use for this in the core package. This might be useful as a MOD.
