Image resizing?

I am new to all this. I know I can set thumbnails and restrict image sizes in the ACP, but is there a way to just upload a large photo and have it resized to a maximum? I want users to be able to upload any size file, but then take it down to a good viewing size. Also I don't want people to have access to the full file size of my photos? Thanks

You will need to install a MOD for that , i would say use the Easy Resize Posted Images MOD.
