Search function disrupted by upgrade

I recently upgraded after waiting waaaay too long to do so. We're now successfully running 3.0.4, except that now the search function ignores any posts made before the upgrade. One of my users made this helpful suggestion:

"Taking a guess, but the search engine probably needs to reindex the posts table in the database. There may or may not be an option to do that in the admin stuff, but that would probably fix it."

I poked around the ACP to see if I could figure it out, and I confess I am at a loss. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

ACP > Maintenance > Search index

First delete the old index and then re index.
