What ever happened to Genral Configuration? That was the most useful feature.

Re: mass email...where?
It's much more spread out in the new system.
It's easier to use once you get used to it… but until then, it's more difficult.

Re: mass email...where?
I have been a phpBB user for quite sometime now but it is the first time I am trying the mass email feature. I tried to send a small message to all users of my small forum (less than 400) and I ran into some errors. I tried both using regular mail function and using smtp server.
Here is what I got when disabled smtp:
Failed sending email :: PHP ::
DEBUG MODE
Line : 234
File : emailer.php
When I tried using the smtp server here is what I got after hitting the submit button:
Ran into problems sending Mail. Response: 554 : Recipient address rejected: Policy Rejection: --SENDER_QUOTA_REJECTION--
DEBUG MODE
Line : 153
File : smtp.php
I checeked the account and it seems fine. I was able to connfigure outlook express with the same information and got no issue sending/receiving mail.
Any thoughts on where to look for the source of this problem.
I have recently upgraded to phpBB 2.0.22
thanks,
Omer

Hi Omer,
It looks like you are having issues with phpBB2… which in that case, you will want to want to post in the support forum for phpBB2.

That was the first place I tried. The only options I see there are to 'check for updates' and to 'manage report/denial reason'. I can't find anything relevant in the ACP general tab either. Any more detailed hint? Perhaps I need to turn it on first?
Are you set as a founder? I have it on mine ...
Aha, that was the problem. I just assumed that being a regular admin would by default give me all options. I've now set myself as a founder and I see the mass email feature in system like you all said. I assume I could have given all admins that permission if I had figured out that was the problem before, right?
Too bad mass email doesn't allow you to select multiple groups...I guess that will be one of the mods I do if I get around to it.
Does mass email chunk the emails into batches to deal with ISPs that limit the number of addressees on a single email?
I just got upgraded to Phpbb 3, I am marked as founder, and can not find the mass email option. The system tab only has language and reports.
THANK YOU!!!!

Re: mass email...where?
You are hosted at a free forum host. They alter features and code from the original and, as such, you must seek support from them (but here's your answer). phpbb.com and area51.phpbb.com are for support and discussion of self-hosted and installed forums only.ktrides2 wrote: I just got upgraded to Phpbb 3, I am marked as founder, and can not find the mass email option. Didn't know that, so thank you very much for the help!
