Olympus BBCode

Post by bpat1434 »

Out of curiosity:

Will the new phpBB Olympus have a mod or built-in-function for the addition of custom bb tags? Like I want the ability to add a tag like so:

[google]search_term_here[/google]

This BBCode would automatically create a link of the search term and link it to the google search result.

It would be nice to have the ability to add your own personal BBCode tags on your own board, but I haven't seen this mod for boards (except SMF). I know vBulletin has it built in.

Yes you will have the ability to create your own BBCode tags - the functionality is already present and has been for a while.

3.0 supports custom BBCode, but does it support stuff like that? I thought it only allowed for simple BBCode-to-HTML replacements...

And that one can be done with the features available no problem.

Just map [google]{TEXT}[/google]
to <a href="http://www.google.co.uk/search?q={TEXT}">Google search: {TEXT}</a>
(or something like that)

That's great, what file would you put that in?

It's controllable through the admin panel

This is a VERY cool feature. Thanks!

My board references a lot to dictionary.com, so this will definetly come in handy.
