Hello. I have seen that "birthday" and even "sex" has been implemented to phpBB... That's beautiful, and what about real name and real surname? I know it will in all cases take about 2 minutes to add, still that feature is used by lots of forums using mods and should perhaps be included in the "standard pack" 8)

There are custom user profile fields by default, so if you want to add it, you can. I don't see it as being default, however.

I've never seen real names used on message boards. In fact it really isn't a very good idea to go around posting your real name on message boards. If the field was included by default, it'd be the first thing I removed.

the only reason i could see a use for this is if an admin would like to know all users real names, but not making this available to all users. it'd be easy for an admin to implement that field if they wanted.

Personally I'd like to have several fields added:
Real name (could be as first/middle/last name)
Address (street, number, zip, city, country)
phone number (telephone and cell)

I run a board for my gaming club and and we need these things and on various other boards this would have been useful as well. Perhaps it could/should be added as a "activate personal information" option or one only visible to certain groups ?!?


I understand that flashing your adress, name etc is not always a good idea.

If one were to add these custom fields, coding for showing them on various places would have to be added as well I take it.. Might be complicated for many people, not having developer skills...
