I don't care very much about gold, since I am already using RC1 live  .

(yes I know that RC3 is out and I am upgrading very soon)

Hope you don't have any MODs cos you can only go from 1>3 with change files.

Is there any change in db schema, or, in other words, may I update to RC3 just overwriting the files?

You should always run the database_update.php file. But, at the moment, you can't use the automatic updater to go from 1>3 but I think that might be changed in RC4.

You can, however, use the automatic updater to go 1->2->3. I'm sure that the RC1 to RC2 file is still on Sourceforge somewhere.

Unfortunately not. The automatic updater just tells you that 2 isn't the latest version and won't do anything.

Oh.

Guess you learn something new every day... :D

As an afterthought, I wonder if it would be possible to use the changed files package to trick the updater into doing a 1->3 update? Although this would probably be pointless; you may as well just use the changed files package if you're going to get hold of it. ;)

If I understood correctly, the automatic updater was “broken” and has been fixed, so that in the future it will be possible to use prior updates in a step-by-step fashion (e.g., RC1 to RC2, RC2 to RC3, RC3 to RC4).
