The Wow Factor Of phpBB3

Post by noah59 »

Dear phpBB Development Team,
A few weeks ago I was watching a Vista commercial. The one that shows someone doing something with Vista and at the end they say wow... My version:
phpBB3. Wow.
Several days ago I was considering purchasing vBulletin, however, now I am not. Why? I just downloaded and installed the latest CVS snapshot of of phpBB3 (4-16-07). The new proSilver style is nothing short of incredible, the admin panal has now incorperated the new style and looks better then ever. The new look and feel really is starting to look finished. Warning: Touchy feely moment ahead

I would like to thank the phpBB devlopment team from the bottom of my heart for the incrediable work they have done on V3 of this incrediable buletin board system and for keeping phpBB free and open soruce.

Thanks again,
Noah59

Being that commercial for Windows is a good reason not to use it for phpBB3.

"I'm loading Windows. WOW. It works. I must have messed up something..."

The only time I've said wow at my computer was when I spun the Beryl desktop cube in ubuntu. Now THAT was impressive!

Plus Oympus is pretty sweet too

Wow.
Unfortunately, having my notebook only 512 megs of RAM, I'm not able to see such flashy things.
Actually, it had troubles loading that flashy-things 2-meg screenshot.

Here's an OS X version for you… I used the option to only show the windows of the App I'm currently in.

I must say, I am pretty impressed with phpBB3, as well. I am a vBulletin user, but phpBB3 is pretty insane. I may decide to make the switch this weekend, but I'm not entirely sure yet. :)

It's good you can see it as a viable free alternative to vbulletin, but I'm afraid you'll have to wait until Release candidate before it is ready to go live and will be supported.
