I've noticed after putting my MySQL against the phpBB3 tables and fields, ALOT in phpBB3 looks missing, but it isn't, it's just more "compact."
For example, phpBB_categories has been removed, categories are now forums instead but with a category flag. phpbb_topics has been removed and merged with phpBB_posts.
This is good you guys, but it presents some MAJOR problems once Final comes out.

Yeah, but the converter does some major removing and addition, unlike from phpBB2 to phpBB2 or phpBB1 to phpBB2.

Why is it a problem... phpBB3 is built very different from phpBB2... what's bad about it?

I don't understand why this will be a problem when the Final comes out. phpBB3 is a complete re-write. That means out with the old and in with the new. Any mods you had on your phpbb2 board, kiss them goodbye. That's how it is. Welcome to the new world.

I really dont know what that guy means.
The Database structure has changed a lot.
its not the phpbb2 sturcuture its the phpbb3.
And the converter does, what he should do, he converts the old, lossy, lame strucutre to the new, shiny, fast structure
in other words if phpbb2 were espanol and phpbb3 were chinese the converter would translate espanol to chinese.
And i really dont know too, what MAJOR Problems will come out when the final will be released.

And the pbpbb3 wont change a lot more i think.

I haven't used the convertor yet, but there's only 1 problem i can imagine:
heavily modded phpbb 2.X boards who have to be altered quite a lot before the convertor would work.
I don't know if the convertor checks the "standardization" of the database
i mean: suppose i have a database "users" with "1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,8a,8b,8c,9,10" as fields instead of "1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10", will he give a warning before converting that database? Or isn't this a problem at all?
