viewtopic.php?f=7&t=25169&p=162105#p162105

A long string will break the layout, though I think most people won't do that.

most people ??

I've had several ***holes doing that on my forums.
Sorry for my language
I think it's better to do something against it than to watch how they make a living joy of it.

Telling them they can't do that just ain't enough.

That's just my opinion

I personally created my style so that all posts are contained in a div that will just not become any wider than I want it to. The individual posts will get a horizontal scrollbar when they are too wide for those cases where the content is wider than it should be legitimately (e.g. a long URL). IIRC the trick is CSS style "scroll: auto".
