Super Moderators?

Post by buba »

I'm doing some test configurations on the latest CVS version of Olympus. I'd like to understand the differences between the predefined 'Super-Moderators' group and a self-configured group of users with moderator-rights?

What's the intended use of the Supermoderators group?

We are still debating whether they should be called Super Moderators or Global Moderators. Moderator permissions you assign to the Super Moderator group are applicable board-wide, to all forums. So if you have members to moderate the whole forum, just add them to the Super Moderator group, instead of having to assign them to every forum manually.

Note: Of course you can deny access to a forum for the Super Moderators.

You could always call it Managers.

Call them Global Moderators.
Super doesnt tell you much about what makes them 'super'.
Global tells you that they moderate everything. Its a less confusing term.

Granted it doesnt sound as glamorous as 'Super'. ;)

Why does moderator even have to be part of the title? Wouldn't a global/super moderator's job be more of managing other moderators and maybe bannings and stuff.

Anyway, just thought I would suggest coming up with a new name for it.

The word moderator is there, because the idea of the super moderator permission setting is to allow you to have users who are able to moderate all forums they can see without having to be explicitly added to every forum

A better name for Super Moderators would be Mini Admins, most of the power of Administrators in a pint size package.

I don't think Super Mods have any admin rights by default (Just checked that).
