Restoration of DB
I have a phpBB version 2.0.4 right now, and if I get the newest one (phpBB 2.2) Which I probably WILL.... Will I be able to restore my old database on there? Because if not, I will not get it... But... It is so.. COOL!

Re: Restoration of DB
No, you will have to upgrade. A backup will not work (most likely).

Re: Restoration of DB
I would have thought that the upgrade would be able to alter the database, and keep all current settings/post/users etc. :)
I thin kit has been said somewhere before that backups of 2.0.x dbases will not work.

Re: Restoration of DB
Well, I am going to install the new phpBB, and then try to convert all the posts and such... Hopefully it will work
After that is done, I will install all the hacks I had on previously.
This may take a while

Umm... two things:creativeminds wrote:Well, I am going to install the new phpBB, and then try to convert all the posts and such... Hopefully it will work

1. I wouldn't install the CVS snapshots for a live board. It is a project in development and there are many bugs and incomplete features.
2. MODs from phpBB 2.0.x won't work on the 2.2 series.

Re: Restoration of DB
I won't use it as my main forums, just as a test board.
I will try to make em work.

Re: Restoration of DB
Most of the mods have been replaced by new features.
And you'll have to rewrite the mods yourself.

Re: Restoration of DB
First of all congratulations to all those people who are working on the new phpbb. Looks really great!
I have a question and i would like a clear reply if possible.
If i upgrade my 2.0.3 (which has many mods & hacks) to 2.2 (when it will be out) all the topics, members etc will remain or disappear?
Thank you.

Re: Restoration of DB
They'll remain ... or should, depending on the state of the database of course
