Original phpBB 1.4x style re-introduced in 2.2?

Is there any chance of re-introducing the original 1.4x phpBB style as an option for 2.2? I have always liked that color scheme and would be nice if it could be rolled into 2.2 when it is released as an alterative to the current one.

Which of course is beside the point ...

I haven't heard of any plans to reintroduce the 1.x look as an included option for 2.2, for what it's worth.

I don't think you can except in reissues of that look for 2.0 (there wasn't a separate style system in 1.x). If I recall correctly, Daz (there could be others) released a 1.x style for 2.0 - check phpBBHacks.
