Re: Admin CP?
Think of it this way: there's zero support given here. Not to mention, on top of that, you actually have to edit a file n the CVS to get it working in the first place(this is not a bug, it's something the dev's have added to ensure people understand no support). In short, if you have to ask a questi...

Re: Should I develop my new forum on phpBB2 or Olympus?
phpBB2 for sure. If you use a snapshot, you will not recieve one ounce of support, so upgrading to the final version may be quite difficult(depending on how much changes). However, there will be a tool to convert your phpBB2 board to phpBB3 with support from the phpBB team, so better off to use 2.0.14

Re: Multiple Ranks per User?
ranks can either be basd upon # of posts or admin assigned. and a rand is nothing more then a title. so why could a person be asigned the rank of King of the World, and Master of the Universe, but still only have teh rights to post. If you want them to be able to do more than just post, give them y...

Re: Multiple Ranks per User?
Let me try to explain before everyone jumps to conclusions. On my current forums I would like to create a “Trust” of uses i.e. a title that says these people are important. Listen to what they have to say. However I do not want to give them access to modify stuff. Stuff. The problem arises that som...

Re: Multiple Ranks per User?
how exactly would multiple ranks work? Like, what would be the point? Different ranks per forum perhaps, or by style, if so I can see a slight point with ranks per forum, where say moderators only have a moderator rank in a forum where the are a moderator. However, I don't think that will be in Olym...

Re: New Karma System (Theory)
So what would happen if i only rated bad posts? Well, in the system I mentioned above, your karma would go down, unless you and a bunch of people vote bad for that topic, and then someone comes along and votes really high in an attempt to boost their own karma, in which case, yours would go up whil...

Re: This Board?
Please note: absolutely no support is being given for this board yet. Once it's reaches a BETA some support will be given, but for now, it's still a work in progress. As such, things will be changed, things added/deleted, and so forth, and as such no support is given. This goes all the way down to s...

Re: New Karma System (Theory)
Here's my ideas for Karma system. First, you can vote on posts, or users, whichever, and you can give the good or bad ratings. Seems to be just what everyone else has said so far. However, keeping in mind the actual idea of karma, if you vote someone's post bad, your karma should also decrease a bit...

what does the extended ranks mod do? So far, in the CVS, the ranks system looks pretty much the same as in phpBB2

Re: Will phpBB be...
phpBB will never be a paid service, because of it's open source liscence. That means that should they decide to start charging, anyone can continue releasing it for free from the current code. On top of that, since phpBB would have to stay liscenced as open source, people could as well buy a version...
