Redirect automatically after making changes in ACP

Having spent the last 3-4 days managing and cleaning up an old vBulletin forum, I have really enjoyed the automatic redirection to the previous screen in the admin control panel. Having to make the extra click in phpBB has always seemed unnecessary and is especially troublesome if you are make lots ...

Re: Restrict URL usage by group

That's a great idea -- and it has already been proposed (in that and a more general form). See the BBCode permissions and moving to all custom RFC and my follow-up post for details. (Actually, you already have seen it -- and posted there . ;)) Given that, is there any reason to continue this discus...

'Disable BBCode' and its effect on quoting

Not sure whether to classify this as a bug or a feature request, but I think it's a little bit of both. When BBcode is disabled for certain users, they are still able to use the Quote button, and proceed with replying to a topic, which results in a bunch of inactive BBCode tags in their posts and a ...

Re: Notify me upon replies by default

I think that a more reasonable request would be an ACP setting to allow the Admin to turn on replies by deafult (either board-wide or on a group-by-group basis, the latter being useful for Moderators to get notified of posts quickly even if you don't want to turn it on for most users). This. Steve,...

Restrict URL usage by group

Can we implement restricting URL posting either by group or for newly registered users as a standard feature? This is a useful feature for admins who run busy forums with a lot of daily signups in order to fight human (non-bot) spammers. Right now we only allow turning off URLs for the whole board. ...

Re: [RFC] Legal Settings Page

Forum owners may choose to publish a copyright or copyleft notice, or they may choose to publish a verse from Mary Had a Little Lamb. I, for example, use Flickr images in some of my forum headers, and it's my responsibility to post proper credit for all photos used. I don't see this being phpBB's is...

Re: Simplify footer notice in prosilver

I surely get things mixed up occasionally, but copyright and trademark would be hard for me to confuse. The sentence you're quoting was a response to a person who suggested that the footer text was protecting the brand. The lawyers who handled your trademark matters are incidentally just down the st...

Re: [RFC] Legal Settings Page

First, you started a proposal to simplify it, not elimiinate it. ;) The proposal is to eliminate the copyright notice and thus simplify the footer notice. I have corrected the title of that topic to reflect the contents of the proposal better. Second, why not have it in the ACP? Then each board adm...

Re: [RFC] Legal Settings Page

Seeing how I just started a proposal to eliminate the copyright notice, I'm obviously not going to support rooting it in the ACP, not to mention that "precedent" means something decided by a court which must be followed. Nothing that was done previously must be followed; in fact large port...

Re: [RFC] Legal Settings Page

I'm a lawyer, and I don't like this idea. It should be up to the owner of the website to include any necessary disclaimers and comply with the laws in his jurisdiction. If phpBB already provides the tools to create a new page within the forum, then that's plenty. Any required notices can be placed o...
