Yes and no. I see the same problems happen in the UCP, but i reported it its also present in the ACP for group avatars.
For the group avatar, the upload/Remote avatar option should be made a default. Gravatar was forced there as it was newly introduced.

Who has a gravatar account for forum groups ...

I think i may have discovered a bug in creating a new group?

So You go to the ACP/ManageGroups/Type NewGroupName/Hit Submit......
And you get a warning-blockage that you need to set the Gravatar height and width. Gravatar is selected by default from the drop down menu.
I had to choose the Upload avatar option and then i was able to submit the group creation ...

You speak of dumb users but either of these scenarios can be made possible by dumb admins.
And that will be the dumb admins problem for their stupidity and bad management.... Why should other admins suffer from this, because it may do a little good for the users of little boards, managed by ...

It is the choice and responsibility of the board admin to enable the CAPTCHA and to choose a fairly easy CAPTCHA for the users to solve, but which stops bots from using it. Why not remove the CAPTCHA on registration also... What if users cant register as they are too dumb to figure it out.

Is something done about this? For a while now i started to get a lot of spam daily. Today i got 29 spam emails from my forum. Yesterday i got at least nine. How can it have been released with no antispam protection. Contacting guests need to fill the captcha. Users already filed theirs on ...

Ones contact information should not be displayed to guests and foes by default.
Im not sure if it is a need for special changeable permissions.... like group based. Well... Maybe they should incase we have a group for spammers or other banned members.

If you log out and view this posting, than you can see it is the same here.

Oh yes, i only loaded the page in IE(not logged or using that) and didnt see the contact for your user. Assumed its been fixed. My bad.
You should open a ticket in the tracker. We should be able to make this information ...
