By "main" you mean index? I also think the questionable approach of checking events could be improved vastly.JoshyPHP wrote:the reasons it performs so poorly on the main site

Re: FAQ page musdie!
As long as pages won't turn up in keyword search results they're pretty much pointless. The FAQ is a good candidate: I can only get the information when I know how to get there, as if this is a library. But it's 2015 and one big benefit of computers is that texts are searchable. I see this so often ...

Re: Moving FAQ to controllers
Every page that is not searchable is quite useless - "normal" people using the keyword search might get what they want if not only posts would be returned as results. Likewise the FAQ is visited rarely. Even the whole ACP suffers from not being searchable, which both affects rookies and ex...

Re: [RFC] Ability to @mention specific users in posts
something like [mention][/mention][/mention] If phpBB would accept escapings (i.e. to write a BBCode that should not be parsed) all these cases would be covered. Such a username would then be inserted by the board literally as [mention]\[/mention\][/mention] but display as [mention][/mention][/ment...

Re: [RFC] Ability to @mention specific users in posts
4% is too often to me - I was referring to just using
@
without alternatives (whereas quotation marks or BBCodes are an alternative).- Mon Nov 10, 2014 2:49 pm

And this board alone has 2498 usernames with spaces.Nicofuma wrote:more simply, the spaces are a problem: when does we stop to search for the username? Does we search for@Hi

And 2 with even more problematic names.

Re: [RFC] Ability to @mention specific users in posts
Just because BBCodes suffer from the same issue it't not a solution. It would just be consistent to be finally able to escape BBCodes aswell. And no, only using
@
without alternatives would just fail too often.- Fri Nov 07, 2014 7:56 am

True - wasn't aware of that one general limitation. Then

Re: [RFC] Ability to @mention specific users in posts
how is it "no solution" anyway? Because it'd still not support a username having both, like Jack's "solution" . And this is not only a theoretical case - there are users choosing names based on optical reasons instead of literal ones. And even now you could already encounter nam...

Re: [RFC] Ability to @mention specific users in posts
No, quotation marks can be in a username aswell (and no, usingomniError wrote:For spaces perhaps a solution like@"user name"
'
as delimiters in case a "
appears in the name and vice versa is no solution either).
