Actually, no, because Alpha and Beta are the first two letters of the Greek alphabet, and Omega is the last. So 2.2 is currently nowhere near Omega, if anyone even uses that as a software development stage.

Yeah, the 2.2 permission system is über-flexible, much more even than the 2.0.x system. For any forum, you can assign permissions to any groups (or default groups, REGISTERED USERS, GUESTS, etc.), or any users (which I believe will override settings for their groups, except for the unset options ...
