I'm certain that I read somewhere that admins still need to be made super mods before they have full moderating permissions... or was that my imagination?
Um, no. Admins, supermoderators, and moderatorss are all just predefined groups with appropriate permissions set. You're free to edit/create ...

Karma system is far from done, so perhaps some of this stuff has a chance.
I think a permission setting for "Rate Posts" would be cool, but I don't think reasons for the rating given is very practical.
Multiple levels of "Good / Bad" may also be useful in some instances, but I for one either ...

Don't count on it. You'll have to ask for a mod for it when the time comes. This would by straying away from the phpBB team's intiention: to release forum software. Not enough people would make use of it, either.

Actually upon a regular install, vB will still more than likely have more features, because I'm pretty sure it comes with a calendar and a bunch of stuff that isn't forum/message board software. The phpBB team doesn't want to add things like calendars and stuff to the software package because it ...

After looking it over, I actually like this method a little better.
Either way, this is a styling issue which you can change yourself anyways. Maybe it will encourage more people to use something different than the default style.

You should wait until at least betas or RCs. Even then things will more than likely change, but not so much as they will now.
